About PI-Thenics

What this site is, how introductions work, and who runs it.

What PI-Thenics is

PI-Thenics is an independent guide and referral service for people in Japan — both Japanese residents and foreigners — who are considering private investigator services.

We are not a detective agency and we do not conduct investigations. Our role is to help you understand your options, organize your situation, and — if you agree — introduce you to a suitable agency.

Why an English site?

Navigating private investigator services in Japan requires knowledge of the legal framework, agency registration rules, and contract norms. This is difficult enough for Japanese speakers. For foreign residents, the language barrier, Japanese-only contracts, and unfamiliar systems add significant obstacles.

PI-Thenics in English exists to fill that gap. You can consult, ask questions, and understand the process without needing Japanese.

How introductions work

If your consultation fits what agencies can help with and you consent to sharing your details, we may introduce you to an agency that meets our public-information screening criteria.

Consumers pay no introduction fee. After PI-Thenics successfully delivers a valid referral, the introduced agency may pay PI-Thenics the same fixed referral fee. Compensation does not affect eligibility, matching, or display order. You are free to decline any introduction or walk away at any point.
