If the person may be in immediate danger — mental health crisis, threat of self-harm, or suspicious circumstances — report to the police (110) as soon as possible. Police can file a missing person report regardless of nationality.
For foreign nationals, your embassy can also assist and may be able to provide a liaison with police.

Private investigators are most useful when the situation is not a police emergency but you still need to locate or confirm the whereabouts of someone — for example, a former partner who has disappeared with a child, a debtor, a missing family member who cut contact voluntarily, or someone you have lost touch with.
